 On June 1st, our campus welcomed back its future educators for the start of another inspiring academic year. The reopening ceremony marked a major milestone for our institution as we proudly welcomed our new Principal, Dr. Rosa M. C., who officially assumed charge and inaugurated the day's programme. With the esteemed presence of our College Manager and our dedicated teaching faculty, the ceremony set a profound and motivating tone for the year. Dr. Rosa M. C.s inaugural address reminded us all of the transformative power of education and our vital role as future teachers. We look forward to a year of immense growth, learning, and professional excellence under her guidance!

WOMEN'S DAY CELEBRATION- 09/03/2026

The Women’s Day celebration was observed on 9th March at the Multimedia Hall of SUM College with great enthusiasm and participation from faculty members and students. The program was organized to recognize the achievements of women and to reflect on their contributions to society. The function began with a warm welcome to the dignitaries and participants. Mr. Divakarn P.E. addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of celebrating Women’s Day and acknowledging the role of women in social, educational, and professional fields. IFTAR MEET

 An Iftar Meet was organized at SUM College on 27th February 2026 at 6:00 PM in the evening. The event was conducted in a spirit of unity, harmony, and togetherness, bringing together staff members, students, and union representatives. The program was inaugurated by Mr. Bujir Wafi, who formally commenced the gathering with an inspiring address. Dr. Jaysree C.V., Mr. T.P. Abdulla Master, and the union office bearers also graced the occasion with their presence and shared meaningful messages emphasizing communal harmony, mutual respect, and the importance of such gatherings in strengthening institutional bonds.   The morning assembly on 05/03/2026 was conducted by the Physical Science Department. The programme began with a prayer. The assembly was coordinated by Arshida, who ensured the smooth flow of the programme. The news presentation was delivered by Naseeba, who highlighted important national and international events, helping students stay informed about current affairs. The thought of the day was presented by Saneedha on the topic “Equity and Equality in Education.” She clearly explained the difference between equality—providing the same resources to all—and equity—providing resources based on individual needs to ensure fairness. Her message emphasized the importance of inclusive and supportive educational practices for the overall development of every learner. The assembly concluded by the coordinator.

SPECIAL SCHOOL VISIT

On 26th February 2026, the fourth semester students of SUM College of Teacher Education organized a Special School Visit as part of their practical exposure and community engagement programme. The visit aimed to understand the functioning of special schools, the teaching-learning strategies adopted for children with special needs, and to interact with teachers and students. The students were divided department-wise and visited different special schools. The English Department visited Shanthideepam Special School, Chala. The Physical Science Department visited Jaycee Special School, Dharmadam. The Social Science Department visited Ashrayam Special School Thottada. The Natural Science & Mathematics Department visited Thanal Special School, Kanhirode. At each institution, the students were warmly welcomed by the principals, teachers, and staff members. SCIENCE DAY CELEBRATION AND CLUB INAUGURATION

The Science Day Celebration along with the inauguration of the Science Club and Biodiversity Club was conducted with great enthusiasm and academic spirit on 2nd March 2026 at College auditorium.  The programme commenced with a solemn prayer. The welcome speech was delivered by Anaswar Prasannan, a member of the club. He warmly welcomed the dignitaries, staff, and students, highlighting the significance of celebrating National Science Day and the importance of forming active Science and Biodiversity Clubs in the institution. The Presidential Address was delivered by Dr. C.V. Jayasree (Principal of SUMCTE). She highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle through balanced nutrition and regular physical activity.
