SCIENCE DAY CELEBRATION AND CLUB INAUGURATION


The Science Day Celebration along with the inauguration of the Science Club and Biodiversity Club was conducted with great enthusiasm and academic spirit on 2nd March 2026 at College auditorium. 

The programme commenced with a solemn prayer. The welcome speech was delivered by Anaswar Prasannan, a member of the club. He warmly welcomed the dignitaries, staff, and students, highlighting the significance of celebrating National Science Day and the importance of forming active Science and Biodiversity Clubs in the institution. The Presidential Address was delivered by Dr. C.V. Jayasree (Principal of SUMCTE). In her address, she stressed the need for developing a scientific attitude in everyday life and encouraged students to integrate scientific thinking into their teaching profession. She also appreciated the efforts taken to organize the programme and expressed her hope that the clubs would actively engage students in meaningful academic and environmental activities throughout the year.



The formal inauguration and keynote address were delivered by Dr. K.M. Khaleel Chovva, a renowned academician, botanist, ornithologist, and wildlife photographer. He officially inaugurated the Science Club and Biodiversity Club and delivered an inspiring keynote address. He spoke about the relevance of science in understanding nature and biodiversity, emphasizing conservation and sustainable living. Through his experiences in botany, bird watching, and wildlife photography, he encouraged students to observe nature closely and develop a deeper connection with the environment. His words inspired the gathering to take active roles in protecting biodiversity and promoting scientific awareness.

The felicitation address was delivered by Dr. Krishna Kumar E.P. (IQAC Coordinator), who appreciated the initiative and highlighted the role of quality enhancement in academic and co-curricular activities, Praseetha P. (Biodiversity Club Coordinator), spoke about the planned activities of the club, including nature walks, campus biodiversity documentation, and awareness campaigns. Diljith E.P.(Union Chairman), also extended his support and assured the cooperation of the student union in all future club activities. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Amal, Science Club Secretary. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the chief guest, principal, coordinators, faculty members, and students for their presence and support in making the programme a grand success.
