This phenomenon, where entire species of plants, animals, and other organisms cease to exist, has been occurring for millions of years as a natural part of Earth's history. However, the current rate of extinction is alarmingly high, primarily due to human activities, leading to what many scientists call the sixth mass extinction. One of the primary drivers of extinction is habitat destruction caused by the over exploitation by humans. For example, deforestation in the Amazon rainforest, often referred to as the "lungs of the Earth," is not only contributing to climate change but is also pushing many species to the brink of extinction.
