'DRUG-FREE CAMPUS' DECLARATION
The program commenced with a welcome speech by Suneesh Kolamgaroth, NSS Program Officer, who emphasized the significance of the initiative and the role of students in maintaining a drug-free society. Dr. C V Jayasree, Principal, SUMCTE, delivered the Presidential Address, where she highlighted the dangers of drug abuse and the collective responsibility of students, teachers, and society in curbing this menace.
The official inauguration of the event was done by A T Dasan Master, Vimukthi, Dharamdam Mandalam Convener, who also conducted an enlightening awareness session on the topic ‘ജീവിതമാണ് ലഹരി’ (Life is Sobriety). His speech stressed the adverse effects of drugs on youth and the importance of making conscious choices that promote personal and social well-being.
The Drug-Free Campus Declaration was formally announced by Valsala V V, Ward Member, reinforcing the institution’s resolve to ensure a safe and healthy learning environment.
This was followed by felicitation addresses by Krishnakumar EP, IQAC Coordinator, SUMCTE, and George Joseph, Staff Secretary, both of whom commended the NSS unit for taking up such a crucial initiative and encouraged students to spread awareness beyond the campus. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Diljith EP, NSS Unit Secretary, who expressed gratitude to all the dignitaries, participants, and organizing team for making the event a success.
The ‘Drug-Free Campus’ Declaration was a significant step towards creating awareness and promoting a positive academic atmosphere, inspiring students to take a firm stand against substance abuse.
