COLLEGE DAY CELEBRATION & MAGAZINE RELEASE
The College Day celebration and magazine release (for the academic year 2023–24) was held with great enthusiasm and participation. The event began with a heartfelt welcome speech by Theertha P (Vice Chairman, SUMCTE Union), who warmly greeted the dignitaries, faculty, and students. This was followed by the Presidential Address by Muhammad Sahad, (Union Chairman), who reflected on the collective achievements and vibrant spirit of the college community.
Dr. C V Jayasree, Principal of SUMCTE, delivered the main speech, in which she highlighted the academic progress, co-curricular triumphs, and the overall development of the institution. Her words of encouragement inspired the students to aim higher and uphold the values of education and commitment. The formal inauguration of the celebration was done by the renowned cinema and theatre artist, Ranjith Vengodan. In his address, he shared his enriching journey in the fields of cinema and theatre, offered valuable insights into the world of performance and creativity, sang a few soulful songs, and recommended thought-provoking books, captivating the audience throughout.
One of the highlights of the event was the release of the college magazine for the year 2023–24. The first copy was ceremoniously handed over by the chief guest to the Principal. Following this, Dilna A C, (Student Editor of union 2023-24), addressed the gathering, speaking passionately about the editorial experience, the creative process behind the publication, and extended gratitude to everyone who contributed to its success. The Union Report was then presented by Megha Sudhakaran (Union General Secretary), who detailed the activities, initiatives, and achievements of the union over the past year.
The celebration was further enriched by the words of felicitation delivered by several dignitaries including Abdulla Kutty Master, (Secretary of SUMCTE) Abdul Azeez Haji, (Chairman, SUMCTE) George Joseph (Staff Secretary) and Anagha P K, (Union Fine Arts Secretary). Their encouraging messages acknowledged the efforts of the students and staff in making the event and the academic year a grand success.
Muhammad Aslam(UUC), delivered the vote of thanks, expressing heartfelt appreciation to all who contributed to the success of the day’s events. Certificates were then distributed to winners of the University Kalolsavam, College Fine Arts competitions, and other achievers, recognizing and celebrating their talents and hard work.
The afternoon session brought a wave of joy and festivity, featuring an array of cultural performances by the students. Colorful dances, melodious songs, and engaging skits filled the stage with energy and excitement, making the College Day celebration a truly memorable occasion that reflected the vibrant culture and unity of the SUMCTE community.
