Mathematics club inauguration - 23/01/2026



The Mathematics Club inauguration and Mathematics Day celebration were held on 23/01/2026 at the General Hall with great enthusiasm and active participation from students and faculty members.

The programme began with a warm welcome speech by Anuvrindha, (Joint Secretary , Mathematics club) who highlighted the importance of mathematics in developing logical thinking and problem-solving skills. The Mathematics Club was formally inaugurated by Dr. C. V. Jayasree, Principal, SUMCTE. In her inaugural address, she emphasized the relevance of mathematics in academic life as well as in everyday situations and encouraged students to nurture curiosity and creativity through mathematical learning.

As part of the Mathematics Day celebration, Anshidha K delivered an informative talk on the life and contributions of the legendary mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. The talk inspired the audience by shedding light on his extraordinary talent, dedication, and lasting impact on the field of mathematics.





The programme included a felicitation session by George Joseph, Assistant Professor, SUMCTE; Hiba, Assistant Professor, SUMCTE; Suneesh Kolangaroth, Assistant Professor; and Abhinand K, Staff Secretary. They appreciated the efforts of the Mathematics Club and motivated students to actively participate in academic and co-curricular activities. The vote of thanks was delivered by Aashitha Rahmath, ( Secretary , Mathematics club)who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty members, organizers, and students for their support and cooperation in making the programme a success.

After the formal session, the movie “The Man Who Knew Infinity” was screened for everyone. The film beautifully portrayed the life of Srinivasa Ramanujan and left a deep impression on the audience, making the celebration both educational and inspiring. The programme concluded on a memorable note, reinforcing the significance of mathematics and encouraging students to explore the subject with renewed interest.
