A Greener Tomorrow: World Environment Day Celebrated at SUM College - 05/06/2026

 






The World Environment Day Celebration 2026 was jointly organized by the Biodiversity Club and the National Service Scheme (NSS) of IQAC, SUM College of Teacher Education, Mamba, Kannur. The formal event commenced at 10:00 AM in the college Conference Hall.
​The programme was conducted in the honorable presence of the college Principal and staff members. The highlight of the event was an enlightening awareness class titled "കത്തുന്ന ഭൂമിയെ പച്ച ചൂടിക്കാം" (Let's make the burning Earth green), led by the chief guest, Sri. Azeez Mahe, a renowned wildlife photographer and writer. During his interactive session, Sri. Azeez Mahe captivated the audience by sharing a stunning collection of photographs he had captured on his camera. Through these incredible visual stories of wild animals and diverse natural ecosystems, he beautifully illustrated the raw wonders of nature and emphasized the urgent need for environmental conservation.
​Following this deeply insightful session, the students actively participated in an environmental drive, planting numerous saplings across the college compound and its surrounding areas to promote a greener campus. To conclude the day's meaningful activities on a warm and traditional note, everyone in attendance was served a refreshing snack of traditional tapioca and tea
